Hanover Borough Police officers were called to the burglary and assault in the first block of Pleasant Street at 11:54 p.m. on Oct. 18, as detailed in the release.
During the investigation, the police learned that a 47-year-old man and a 34-year-old woman both from Maryland had committed the crimes at the home.
The pair had arrived and met a 25-year-old woman who was outside, according to the release. They "physically assaulted a female resident outside the residence, causing her to retreat into the residence," the police said.
The man then entered the home, continuing to physically assault the woman and then began assaulting a 24-year-old man in the home before being forced outside, the police explained.
Then the pair fled the scene.
The PA woman was taken to UPMC Hanover for treatment for moderate injuries, and the man, who suffered minor injuries, refused treatment.
The investigation is ongoing but the assaults are not believed to have been random.
Anyone who witnessed the incident or who may have information regarding the incident is asked to contact the Hanover Borough Police Department at (717) 637-5575 or through York County 911.
